Comparison between two different methods used for IMRT plans QA of Prostate cancer
Authors
Abstract:
Introduction: The aim of this study is evaluation of two Quality Assurance methods in sliding window IMRT technique and Determination of gamma index in both methods Materials and Methods: In this study two tools named" Delta4" phantom and " Epiqa" software has been used to perform QA on the treatment plan before the actual treatment by Varian linear accelerator Clinac 600C. For this purpose, 20 patient’s treatment plan were assessed with the 3% and 3mm criteria. Results: Each treatment field demonstrated that the gamma index in the delta4 phantom was more than the Epiqa software for all patients. The most uncertainty for a treatment plan in delta4 phantom was 0.88% and for Epiqa software was 1.53%. (p- value <0.05) Conclusion: In spite of these variations in results and also studying similar researches, these tools can be used as a reliable QA method in radiotherapy centers. Delta4 phantom is preferred to Epiqa software because it is a dosimeter. However, Epiqa software is economical to install. therefore can be used for those centers which cannot afford delta4 phantom due to economic consideration.

Radiation treatment planning for prostate cancer: A new dosimetric comparison of five and seven fields IMRT plans
Background: To compare the dosimetric coverage of the planning target volume (PTV) and the dose delivered to the main Organs at Risk (OARs) in 5 and 7-field techniques of Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) in patients with local prostate cancer. Materials and Methods: Twelve patients with local prostate cancer underwent 5 and 7-field IMRT planning. The delivery of IMRT was carried out...
full textComparison between two different algorithms used for pretreatment QA via aSi portal images
Several algorithms exist to perform quality assurance for volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) treatments based on electronic portal imaging devices (EPID). These algorithms are used to compare doses (convert into water, GLAaS) and fluences (in amorphous silicon (aSi), Varian portal dosimetry). The aim of this study is to compare the two methods using clinical data. In this study, Varian por...
full textDosimetric Comparison of Various Radiotherapeutic Treatment Plans Using Cobalt-60 and Linac for Prostate Cancer
Introduction: This study was designed to evaluate dosimetric parameters such as rectal dose, bladder dose, integral dose (ID), homogeneity index (HI) and conformity index (CI) in various treatment plans for prostate cancer. Materials and Methods: Pelvic computed tomography (CT) scans of 27 patients were acquired and transferred to the RTDosePLAN treatment planning system. For each patient, 8 co...
full textDosimetric and physical comparison of IMRT and CyberKnife plans in the treatment of localized prostate cancer.
AIM The aim of our study was the dosimetric and physical evaluation of the CK and IMRT treatment plans for 16 patients with localized prostate cancer. BACKGROUND Intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) is one of the recent technical advances in radiotherapy. The prostate is a well suited site to be treated with IMRT. The challenge of accurately delivering the IMRT needs to be supported b...
full textIMRT for prostate cancer
The increased frequency of PSA testing has led to an increased diagnosis of early organ confined prostate cancer. Diagnosis is primarily made by histology, via TRUS-guided sextant biopsy or template biopsy which can provide improved localisation of cancer within the prostate. Staging is from digital rectal examination, from imaging with multi-parametric MRI (TNM staging), from PSA levels, and f...

Aims: It was aimed to investigate postoperative conformal radiotherapy planning that provides the best target volume and the least dose for critical organs in cancers of stomach. Methods: This study was conducted on the CT simulation images of thirty patients diagnosed with gastric cancer. Target volumes and the organs at risk were contoured.
